It’s All a Gift

What do you have that you did not receive?
                         —1 Corinthians 4:7

While he was away, he left his business in the custody of his servants.

On his return, he called for accountability of their stewardship. Two had doubled his assets; one had buried his stash.

“Lord, you gave me five talents,” said one. “Lord, you gave me two talents,” said another. Notice: “Lord, YOU gave me.” Without his initial gift, they would have had nothing to work with. “What do you have that you did not receive?” (1 Cor 4:7).

It’s not the amount of the gifts we are given but the amount of our faithfulness in using them that matters. Some who have been faithful in the use of the few gifts they have been given outshine those who have been favored with many gifts but have not been faithful in using them for the Lord.

It’s your choice: use your gift or bury it.
