Death has been swallowed up in victory.
—1 Corinthians 15:54
Of all the days on our calendar, there is no day like Easter to reawaken our conviction that death has been swallowed up in victory.
The undeniable fact of Jesus’ resurrection gives us assurance of ours as well: “Because I live,” Jesus said, “you also will live” (Jn 14:19).
The voices of deniers and skeptics are no match for our faith. Our frailties aren’t final. Our grief over those we have loved and lost is diminished.
“Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting? . . . Thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ” (1 Cor 15:55, 57).
How sweet the victory.
