The Verdict

The eyes of the Lord are everywhere.
                     —Proverbs 15:3

As Jacob was about to die, he called a family meeting, summoning his twelve sons to his room. “Gather around so I can tell you what will happen to you in days to come,” he said (Gen 49:1).

In a blunt evaluation, Jacob predicted each son’s future based on his observation of their past. Can you imagine how uncomfortable they must have been as he addressed each in the presence of all?

I expect there were a lot of sweating palms in that room and that no one wanted a front-row seat.

“We must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each of us may receive what is due us for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad” (2 Cor 5:10).
