Wait for the Lord; be strong and
take heart and wait for the Lord.
—Psalm 27:14
We want our desires to be met on our timetable. But if we find it difficult to wait, we’re going to find it difficult to walk by faith.
We marvel at Abraham’s faith as he waited a quarter-century for the fulfillment of God’s promise that he would have a son. Abraham’s faith was unshakable: “He never doubted that God would keep his promise” (Rom 4:20 NCV).
God’s promises don’t come with a time-of-delivery guarantee. Faith calls us to place our confidence in the one who promises, not on the timing of fulfillment.
“Those who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength . . . they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint” (Is 40:31).
Faith is tested in the waiting room.
