The Lord is good and his love endures forever.
—Psalm 100:5
Psalms 106, 107, and 118 begin: “Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever.” In Psalm 136, the same phrase is repeated 26 times, once in every verse as a refrain.
Ponder these two aspects of his love:
His love is unconditional.
Conditional love says, “I’ll love you if . . .” If you please me; If you’ll change; If . . . whatever.
God’s love for you says, “I love you—period.” When you are faithful—and when you’re not; when you are lovable—and when you’re not.
His love is consistent.
God’s love isn’t unpredictable and unreliable. He loves you today; he will love you tomorrow; he will love you forever—no matter what.
God loves the incomplete completely.
