Pay Attention to the Owner’s Manual

Teach me, O Lord, to follow your decrees.
                         —Psalm 119:33

Irv Gordon’s 1966 Volvo clocked its 3 millionth mile in September 2013, the most miles ever driven by a single-owner of a non-commercial vehicle, said Guinness.

Asked the secret of his car’s longevity, Gordon said, “It’s in the glove box. I read the owner’s manual, and I service the car just the way the book calls for it.”

“Your hands made me and formed me,” said the psalmist (Ps 119:73). Sprinkled throughout that chapter is the writer’s declared determination to follow God’s maintenance instructions:

I will obey your decrees (v. 8).
I will not neglect your word (v. 16).
I will always obey your law (v. 44).

God made you. He knows best how your life should be lived. It’s in the Owner’s Manual.
