You can deal with trouble, disappointment, and pain as long as you have hope. Give up hope, and you give up.
God offers the only hope that has an “eternal” guarantee—it’s in a small nest of three things that last forever: “These three things continue forever: faith, hope, and love” (1 Cor 13:13).
Difficulties are unpleasant but have a limited shelf life. I have often been encouraged by the maxim, “This too shall pass.” It reminds me that however disagreeable the trouble I’m facing may be, it’s temporary.
“The troubles we see will soon be over, but the joys to come will last forever” (2 Cor 4:18).
So, get a grip on hope and hang on for dear life.
Hope defeats despair.
