The Gift God Wants

[O]ffer your bodies as living sacrifices.
                    —Romans 12:1

Maybe you’re talented at singing, teaching, sewing, or cooking—and you’re using that skill to serve the Lord.

You are aware, aren’t you, that what you are offering to him is what he has gifted to you?

We give Thee but Thine own,
Whate’er the gift may be;
All that we have is Thine alone,
A trust, O Lord, from Thee.
—William W. How

Resolutely resist the self-deception of fractional discipleship.

God wants all of you, not just a piece of you! “[W]hat I want is not your possessions but you” (2 Cor 12:14). Give up the delusion of self-ownership: “You are not your own; you were bought at a price” (1 Cor 6:19–20). Offer yourself—all of you—to him as a living sacrifice (Rom 12:1).

When he gets you, all your gifts come with the package.

The gift God wants from you is you.
