Hold On

Do not be afraid, for I am with you.
                       —Isaiah 43:5

Natural disasters—tornados, earthquakes, hurricanes, tsunamis, fires—strike without warning and wreak devastation.

So do personal disasters. A fatal accident, a life-threatening illness, a bad and irreversible business decision, a financial blow.

When you are ambushed by adversity you may feel that God has abandoned you. He hasn’t. “When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you” (Isa. 43:2).

And remember this, especially this: “Do not fear … I have called you by name, you are mine” (Isa. 43:1). He knows your name, your address, and your pain. He hasn’t forgotten you. Hold onto your faith tighter than ever.

Problems come and go;
God is here to stay.
