By the grace of God I am what I am.
—1 Corinthians 15:10
Two words define your days: circumstance and identity.
Circumstance: “It is what it is.” An infirmity, adversity, heartache, or relationship gone wrong. “It is what it is” is the statement of acceptance of a circumstance beyond your control.
Identity: “I am what I am.” The apostle Paul confessed a feeling of unworthiness because of his previous life, but claimed a God-given new life: “By the grace of God I am what I am.”
You may be living in a distressing circumstance that seems unsolvable. You’re in a position of having to say, “It is what it is.”
Now, with strong resolve, you must tough it out, claim God’s grace, and live out his purpose—his identity—for your life going forward: “By the grace of God, I am what I am.”
Your circumstance may be an emotional irritation,
but your grace-gifted identity is a spiritual confirmation.
