Temper Your Temper

Better a patient man than a warrior, a man
who controls his temper than one who takes a city.
                                        —Proverbs 16:32

A trigger temper is a sign of immaturity; childish people are easily provoked.

“Anger is a bad counselor,” says a French Proverb. A Korean Proverb has it this way: “If you kick a stone in anger, you’ll hurt your own foot.”

Cultivate a spirit that is not overly sensitive or easily offended. If someone can make you angry they can control you. Why should you give someone such power over your life?

“One who is quick-tempered acts foolishly” (Prov. 14:17). If you lose your temper, you lose. When you allow temper to take control you are almost certain to say and do things that can’t be unsaid or undone.

You can’t unscramble an egg.
