Blessed is the one whose sin
the Lord does not count against them.
—Psalm 32:2
Psalm 32 opens with this invigorating promise: “Blessed is the one whose transgressions are forgiven, whose sins are covered. Blessed is the one whose sin the Lord does not count against them.”
That would be a cruel taunt unless it was a compassionate pledge.
David took it personally: “I acknowledged my sin to you and did not cover up my iniquity. I said, ‘I will confess my transgressions to the Lord.’ And you forgave the guilt of my sin” (v. 5). Will you do the same?
God is ready when you are: “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins” (1 Jn 1:9).
Confessing your sin is your move. Covering your sin is God’s move.
God will cover it if you will confess it.
